1. Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, yesterday announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Ortom hinged his reason on the fact that the ruling party had issued him a red card, hence his decision to take the exit door.

2. President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the repatriation of Nigerians stranded in Russia after the World Cup.

Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, said the President has directed Geoffrey Onyeama, minister of foreign affairs and Hadi Sirika, minister of state for aviation, to commence the process of repatriating the Nigerians.

3. Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has finally reacted to the emergence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Kayode Fayemi, as winner of the Ekiti State governorship election.

Fayose accused President Muhammadu Buhari of using security operatives to scare people in order to pave the way for the APC thugs to snatch ballot boxes, describing the President as a dictator.

4. The Nigeria Army on Monday denied the report that some Nigerian soldiers and military trucks were missing after an alleged attack by Boko Haram in Bama, Borno.

In a statement issued by Brig Gen Texas Chukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, DAPR, said, the report was not only untrue but misleading as the said incident was blown out of proportion.

5. Rampaging youths in Jalingo on Monday pelted Taraba Commissioner of Police, Mr David Akinremi, with stones, injuring him on the head.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP David Misal, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Jalingo, said the Commissioner had gone to the Tudunwada area of the metropolis with a team of officers to restore normalcy following reports of youths unrest.

6. The All Progressives Congress, APC, has reacted to the announcement by Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, that he is no longer with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In response APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole recalled that the governor had on several occasions promised that he would not leave the ruling party except he was pushed out, wondering why the governor is now claiming that he was red-carded by the ruling party.

7. Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari on Monday confirmed that 44 lives were lost, while 20 people were missing in the overnight rainstorm that ravaged Katsina State border town of Jibia.

The rainstorm was said to have started about 11 pm on Sunday and lasted over two hours.

8. Senator Abdul-Azeez Nyako representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District has formally announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The lawmaker said he was compelled to leave APC with his supporters due to the injustice done during the recent congresses of APC in Adamawa.

9. The Public Relations Officer of the West African Examination Council, WAEC, in Ghana, Agnes Teye Cudjoe, has revealed two factors responsible for mass failure in English in the 2018 WASSCE result.

She said the Chief Examiner’s Report attributed the massive failure to the use of Pidgin language and short-hand by students.

10. The resumption date of the Nigeria Professional Football League has been moved, the Club Owners’ Association have announced.

The NPFL, which has been on break because of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, was expected to resume this Wednesday with Match Day 25 fixtures across nine centres.
